Pound cake


  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Half a teaspoon of salt
  • 7 oz (1¾ stick) softened butter, plus 1 Tbsp to grease a baking sheet
  • 3 ounces cream cheese
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup pure vanilla extract


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. 9 x 5 loaves of butter.
  2. In a large bowl, sift the all-purpose flour, cake flour, baking powder and salt. sit down.
  3. With a hand mixer or hand mixer, beat the butter and cheese on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add the sugar and stir for 1 minute. Add the eggs, one at a time, then the vanilla; Stir for 1 minute until well blended. With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into the loaf pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean, 50 minutes. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before placing on a wire rack to cool completely.
