Best Homemade Pancakes

  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar (see note)
  • 1 cup flour for all purposes
  • 2 tbsp white sugar (used 3)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  1. Combine milk and vinegar in a small bowl for 10 minutes until “acid.” This is an important step called “sour milk” which is much different from sour milk. I guarantee you you will not taste vinegar in the finished product. Set aside.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. In a smaller bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla and melted butter. Pour dry ingredients and whisk until most blocks disappear, but don’t end!!
  3. The mixture will be thick, and do not add more liquid. Let the mixture sit undisturbed for ten minutes!!
  4. After 10 minutes, you will see bubbles in the mixture, very important do not stir again.
  5. Gently dip (do not pour) 1/2 cup of mixture and place in a butter grill or frying pan. Cook until the bubbles appear on the surface of the pie, then stir with a spoon and redness the other side.
