Equipment

  • Grill or skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Basting brush
  • Knife + cutting board
  • Measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (skin-on, ~6 oz each)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh parsley & lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare Butter Sauce: Mix softened butter with lemon juice, zest, pepper, and garlic powder. Set aside.
  • Season Salmon: Pat fillets dry. Rub lightly with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Cook Salmon:
Grill: Preheat grill to medium-high. Cook salmon skin-side down for 4–5 minutes, then flip and cook another 4–5 minutes until flaky.
Skillet: Heat olive oil in skillet. Cook salmon 4–5 minutes per side until golden.
  • Brush with Butter: During the last minute of cooking, brush fillets generously with lemon-pepper butter.
  • Rest & Serve: Remove salmon, let rest for 2 minutes, then garnish with parsley and lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook salmon—remove when it flakes easily with a fork.
  • Use skin-on fillets for moisture and flavor.
  • Substitute olive oil for butter if you prefer a lighter version.
  • Pair with baked potatoes, rice pilaf, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Store leftovers in fridge up to 3 days; reheat gently to avoid drying out.
