  • 1 lb ground sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheet.
  • Prepare Mushrooms: Wipe mushrooms clean, remove stems, and finely chop stems.
  • Cook Sausage: Brown sausage in skillet with onion, garlic, and chopped stems. Drain excess fat.
  • Prepare Filling: Mix cooked sausage with cream cheese, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, and herbs until combined.

  • Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place stuffed mushrooms evenly spaced.
  • Bake: Bake 20–25 minutes until mushrooms are tender and tops are golden.
  • Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with parsley or extra Parmesan before serving.
  • Important: Avoid overfilling—too much filling can spill over during baking.

Notes

  • Cleaning Mushrooms: Wipe clean instead of washing to avoid sogginess.
  • Pre-Cook Sausage: Ensures filling is fully cooked and flavorful.
  • Room Temperature Cream Cheese: Makes mixing easier.
  • Avoid Overcrowding: Space mushrooms evenly for proper baking.
  • Variations: Try spicy sausage, Italian seasoning with mozzarella, or vegetarian fillings.
  • Storage: Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; reheat in oven for best texture.
