Equipment

  • Baking dish or sheet pan
  • Small saucepan (to melt butter)
  • Knife + cutting board
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (skin-on, ~6 oz each)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill (or parsley/thyme)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Set oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Prepare Butter Base: Melt butter with olive oil and garlic in a small saucepan. Pour into baking dish.
  • Arrange Salmon: Place fillets skin-side down. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add Lemon & Herbs: Top with lemon slices and sprinkle with fresh herbs.
  • Roast: Bake for 12–15 minutes, until salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  • Rest & Serve: Let rest for 2 minutes, then garnish with extra herbs. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use unsalted butter to control seasoning.
  •  Don’t overcook—salmon should flake but remain moist.
  •  Swap herbs seasonally (rosemary in winter, basil in summer).
  •  Try miso butter or chili compound butter for creative twists.
  •  Sheet-pan version: roast salmon with veggies for a one-pan meal.
