  • 9×13-inch baking pan
  • Saucepan
  • Sharp knife for slicing

Ingredients

Brownie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt

Pecan Pie Topping

  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup corn syrup (or maple syrup)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare Brownie Layer: Mix butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in cocoa, flour, and salt. Spread batter evenly into greased pan.
  • Make Pecan Topping: Whisk brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in pecans.
  • Layer & Bake: Pour pecan mixture gently over brownie batter. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–45 minutes until set.
  • Cool & Slice: Let brownies cool completely before slicing into squares. Use a sharp knife dipped in warm water for clean cuts.

Notes

  • Flavor Boost: Add a splash of bourbon to the topping.
  • Texture Tip: Cool fully before slicing to prevent runny topping.
  • Shortcut: Boxed brownie mix works fine—just add pecan topping.
  • Storage: Keep at room temperature for 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Serving Idea: Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
