Ingredients
  

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey/pork/plant-based alternative)
  • 1 cup cooked rice or breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg (for binding)
  • 2 cups tomato sauce or broth
  • Salt, pepper, paprika to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Prepare Cabbage Leaves: Remove core, blanch leaves in boiling water for 2–3 minutes until pliable. Drain and cool.
  • Make Filling: Mix ground meat, rice or breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, and seasonings in a bowl.
  • Wrap Burgers: Place filling in center of each cabbage leaf, fold sides over, and roll tightly.
  • Arrange in Dish: Place seam-side down in a greased baking dish. Pour tomato sauce or broth over the top.
  • Bake: Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45–50 minutes. Remove foil for last 10 minutes to brown slightly.
  • Serve: Garnish with fresh herbs and serve hot with bread, rice, or salad.

  • Blanch cabbage leaves before wrapping to prevent tearing.
  • Don’t overstuff—smaller portions cook evenly.
