  • Skillet for sautéing steak & vegetables
  • Mixing bowls
  • Knife + cutting board
  • Pastry brush (for olive oil)

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 1 store-bought pizza dough or homemade dough
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil for brushing

Filling:

  • 12–16 oz thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin steak
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • Optional: ½ cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, to taste
  • 1 ½–2 cups shredded or sliced mozzarella cheese
  • Optional: provolone or Parmesan for extra flavor

Optional Toppings:

  • Marinara sauce for dipping
  • Red pepper flakes or fresh basil for garnish

Expert Tips:

  • Pat steak dry and slice thin for even cooking.
  • Don’t overfill the dough to prevent leaks.

Instructions

Prepare Steak & Veggies:

  • Season steak with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
    Sauté steak until medium-rare.
Cook onions and bell peppers (and mushrooms if using) until soft.
    Combine steak and vegetables.

Roll Out Dough:

  • Roll dough into an even rectangle.
    Brush lightly with olive oil.

Assemble Stromboli:

  • Layer steak and vegetables evenly.
Add mozzarella and optional provolone slices.
    Leave edges free to seal.

Roll & Seal:

  • Tuck in edges, roll tightly, and pinch seams.
Optional: cut small slits on top for steam release.

Bake to Golden Perfection:

  • Brush top with olive oil.
Bake 20–25 minutes until golden and cheese melts.
Optional: broil 1–2 minutes for extra crispiness.

Slice & Serve:

  • Cool 5 minutes before slicing.
Serve with marinara or garnish with fresh basil.

Pro Tips:

  • Use a pizza stone for extra-crispy crust.
Let rest before slicing to keep cheese from oozing.

Notes

  • Storage: Refrigerate in airtight container for 3–4 days. Freeze unbaked or baked stromboli for up to 2 months.

  • Make-Ahead: Assemble and refrigerate up to 1 day in advance, or prep steak and veggies for faster assembly.
  • Variations:
    • Cheese: mozzarella, provolone, cheddar, Parmesan, or a blend.
    • Filling: add mushrooms, spinach, roasted red peppers, or jalapeños.
    • Dough: whole wheat or herb-infused, or brush with garlic butter.
  • Serving Suggestions: Slice into appetizer portions, serve with marinara, aioli, or spicy ketchup, and pair with a salad or roasted vegetables.
