Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or lemon juice (optional for tang)
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger (optional for warmth)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water (for slurry)
  • Optional: chili flakes, sriracha, or smoked paprika for variation

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, sauté minced garlic in a splash of oil until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  • Add honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and ginger. Stir to combine.
  • In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch and water to form a slurry.
  • Slowly whisk the slurry into the saucepan.
  • Simmer gently for 2–3 minutes until thickened and glossy. Avoid boiling aggressively.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning—add heat, tang, or sweetness as desired.
  • Let cool slightly before using. Store leftovers in an airtight container.

  • For vegan version: use maple syrup or agave instead of honey.
  • For gluten-free: substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
