Ingredients
  

For the Hamburger Steak:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp seasoned salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

For the Onion Gravy:

  • 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional Add-Ins:

  • Sliced mushrooms
  • Fresh thyme or parsley
  • Splash of cream for richer gravy

Instructions
 

  • Make the Patties In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings. Form into 4 oval patties.
  • Sear the Patties Heat skillet over medium-high. Sear patties 3–4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Caramelize the Onions In the same skillet, add butter and onions. Cook over medium heat for 10–12 minutes until soft and golden.
  • Make the Gravy Sprinkle flour over onions and stir to coat. Cook 1–2 minutes. Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire. Simmer until thickened.
  • Simmer Patties in Gravy Return patties to skillet. Cover and simmer 10–15 minutes until cooked through.
  • Serve Garnish with parsley and serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

  • Don’t overmix the beef—just until combined.
