  • Small saucepan
  • Pastry brush
  • Knife or pizza cutter

Ingredients

For the Hot Dogs:

  • 8 beef, chicken, or turkey hot dogs
  • 1 package crescent roll dough (or puff pastry/pizza dough)

For the Firecracker Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Optional: chili flakes for extra heat

Toppings (Optional):

  • Sesame seeds
  • Fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare Dough: Roll out dough and cut into strips.
  • Wrap Hot Dogs: Spiral-wrap each hot dog with dough strips, leaving small gaps for sauce to seep in.
  • Make Firecracker Sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, hot sauce, garlic powder, and chili flakes. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  • Coat & Bake: Brush hot dogs generously with sauce. Place on baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Final Glaze & Serve: Brush with extra sauce after baking. Sprinkle sesame seeds or parsley if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Quality Counts: Use high-quality hot dogs for the best flavor.
  • Spice Control: Adjust hot sauce and chili flakes to your heat preference.
  • Double Glaze: Don’t skip the second glaze layer—it adds shine and flavor.
  • Air Fryer Option: Cook at 350°F (180°C) for 8–10 minutes for a crisp finish.
  • Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in oven with a light glaze brush for best results.
