Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices sourdough, ciabatta, baguette, or whole grain bread
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, halved (optional for rubbing)
  • 6 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 2–3 ripe tomatoes (vine-ripened, Roma, or cherry), sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1–2 tbsp balsamic glaze (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Toast bread: Lightly toast bread slices. For added flavor, rub with garlic and drizzle with olive oil.
  • Layer toppings: Place mozzarella slices on bread, followed by tomato slices. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Broil or bake: Transfer to a baking sheet. Broil or bake at 375°F (190°C) for 5–7 minutes until cheese melts and edges crisp.
  • Add basil: Remove from oven and top immediately with fresh basil leaves.
  • Finish: Drizzle with balsamic glaze or extra olive oil.
  • Serve: Enjoy warm for best flavor and texture.
