- 8 mozzarella sticks or string cheese, halved (16 pieces)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian-style or panko)
- ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- Marinara sauce, for serving
Cut mozzarella into sticks or use string cheese halves.
Prepare three bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, parsley, salt, and pepper.
Coat each stick in flour, dip in egg, then roll in breadcrumbs.
Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating for extra crunch.
Place coated sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for 30 minutes.
Fry in hot oil (350°F / 175°C) for 2–3 minutes until golden, or bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes, or air-fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes.
Drain on paper towels, serve hot with marinara sauce.
-
Pro Tip: Freeze before frying to prevent cheese leaks.
-
Double-coating ensures maximum crunch.
-
For a lighter version, bake or air-fry instead of deep frying.
-
Best served immediately; reheating in oven/air fryer restores crispness.
-
Pair with ranch or garlic aioli for variety.
