Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • Prepare apples: Peel and dice apples. Toss with cinnamon sugar and set aside.
  • Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Cream butter and sugars: In a separate bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  • Add wet ingredients: Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in sour cream and vanilla.
  • Combine: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture. Mix until just combined.
  • Layer batter and apples: Pour half the batter into the pan. Add half the apple mixture. Repeat layers. Swirl gently with a knife.
  • Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • Make glaze: Whisk powdered sugar with milk and vanilla until smooth.
  • Glaze the cooled loaf. Let set before slicing.
