For Tangy Sauce:

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Prep chicken: Season chicken with salt, pepper, and spices.
  • Dredge: Dip chicken in flour → buttermilk/egg mixture → flour again (double dredge for crunch).
  • Heat oil: Preheat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry chicken: Fry in batches for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and internal temp reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Rest: Place chicken on wire rack for 10 minutes to retain crispness.
  • Make sauce: Combine sauce ingredients in saucepan. Simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Serve: Plate chicken and drizzle with tangy sauce or serve sauce on the side.
