Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Saucepan
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Knife + cutting board
  • Optional: pasta pot

Ingredients

  • 1 medium cabbage, sliced thinly
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
  • Fresh parsley or chives for garnish
  • Optional: pasta or crusty bread for serving

Instructions

  • Sauté Garlic: Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet. Add garlic and cook gently until fragrant.
  • Make Alfredo Base: Stir in cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Add Parmesan, whisking until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook Cabbage: In a separate pan, sauté cabbage until tender and caramelized at the edges.
  • Combine: Toss cabbage into Alfredo sauce. Adjust consistency with a splash of pasta water if serving with pasta.
  • Serve: Plate over pasta or alongside bread. Garnish with herbs and a squeeze of lemon juice.

Notes

  • Don’t burn garlic—cook until fragrant, not browned.
  •  Caramelize cabbage for depth of flavor.
  •  Add lemon juice to balance richness.
  •  Works well with gluten-free pasta alternatives.
  •  Pancetta or mushrooms can be added for variation.
