Ingredients
  

For the Dough:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) fresh yeast or instant yeast
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ tsp salt

For the Cinnamon-Sugar Filling:

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar (or white sugar)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon (or fresh cinnamon, finely ground)

Optional Toppings/Glazes:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk or cream
  • Chocolate drizzle, caramel, or chopped nuts

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough:

  • Activate yeast in warm milk with 1 tsp sugar.
    Combine with flour, butter, remaining sugar, and salt.
    Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth.
    Cover and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled.

Roll and Fill:

  • Roll dough into a ¼ inch thick rectangle.
    Spread softened butter evenly.
    Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Shape the Twists:

  • Cut into strips and twist each strip several times.
    Place on parchment-lined tray, leaving space between twists.

Bake:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    Bake 12–15 minutes until golden and slightly crisp.
    Brush with melted butter if desired.

Optional Glaze:

  • Mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
    Drizzle over slightly cooled twists.
