Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer or whisk
  • 9×13-inch baking pan
  • Spatula
  • Cooling rack

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or almond/oat flour for gluten-free)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (or plant-based butter for vegan)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (or coconut sugar/maple syrup for natural sweetness)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for swirl)
  • Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2–3 tbsp milk, ½ tsp vanilla (or cream cheese frosting for richness)
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  • Prepare Base: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch pan. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Spread batter evenly in pan.
  • Make Cinnamon Swirl: Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter. Spoon over batter and swirl gently with a knife.
  • Bake: Bake 25–30 minutes until golden. Test with a toothpick—moist crumbs are ideal.
  • Cool & Glaze: Let bars cool 15–20 minutes. Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over bars.
  • Slice & Serve: Chill briefly for clean edges, then cut into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Don’t overbake—bars should stay soft and chewy.
  •  Chill before slicing for neat presentation.
  •  Add-ins like nuts or cream cheese glaze elevate flavor.
  •  Store in airtight container for 3–4 days; freeze unglazed bars for longer storage.
  •  Perfect for brunch, potlucks, or gifting.
