Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Pastry brush

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (divided)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (for topping)

Instructions

  • Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add cheese: Stir in shredded cheddar until evenly distributed.
  • Add wet ingredients: Mix in milk and half of the melted butter. Stir gently until just combined.
  • Drop dough: Spoon portions of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake: Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12–15 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Brush with garlic butter: Mix remaining melted butter with garlic powder and parsley. Brush over hot biscuits immediately after baking.

Notes

  • Do not overmix dough—drop biscuits should be rustic and tender.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of cayenne or paprika to the butter topping.
  • Biscuits can be frozen after baking; reheat in the oven for best texture.
  • Whole wheat flour can be substituted for a nuttier flavor and added fiber.
  • Serve warm for the best experience—these biscuits are at their peak fresh from the oven.
