Equipment

  • Espresso machine or coffee maker
  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk or milk frother
  • Coffee mug
  • Measuring spoons
  • Spoon (for stirring)

Ingredients

  • 1 shot espresso (or ½ cup strong brewed coffee)
  • 1 cup milk (whole milk recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons caramel brulée sauce
  • 1 tablespoon whipped cream
  • 1 teaspoon caramel drizzle or caramel brulée topping

Optional additions:

  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar (for extra sweetness)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Dairy-free options:

  • Almond milk
  • Oat milk

Instructions

Step 1: Brew the Espresso

  • Prepare one fresh shot of espresso. If you don’t have an espresso machine, brew about ½ cup of strong coffee instead. Pour it into a large coffee mug.

Step 2: Heat the Milk

  • In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium-low heat until hot but not boiling. The ideal temperature is around 150–160°F (65–70°C).

Step 3: Add the Caramel Brulée Sauce

  • Whisk the caramel brulée sauce into the hot milk until fully dissolved and smooth.

Step 4: Froth the Milk

  • Use a milk frother, whisk, or shake the milk in a sealed jar to create light foam.

Step 5: Combine the Drink

  • Pour the caramel milk mixture into the mug with the espresso. Stir gently to combine

Step 6: Add Toppings

  • Top the latte with whipped cream and drizzle caramel sauce or sprinkle caramel brulée topping.

Step 7: Serve

  • Serve immediately while warm and enjoy your homemade coffeehouse-style drink.

Notes

For the richest flavor, use freshly brewed espresso instead of pre-made coffee.
Whole milk creates the creamiest latte texture, but oat milk also froths well for dairy-free versions.
Warm your mug with hot water before pouring the latte to keep the drink hot longer.
If you prefer a stronger caramel flavor, add an extra teaspoon of caramel sauce.
For an iced version, skip heating the milk and pour the drink over ice with cold milk.
Homemade caramel brulée sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks and used in coffee, desserts, or drizzled over pancakes.
