Ingredients
  

  • 3 lbs potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or milk for lighter version)
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella (optional, for extra gooeyness)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Boil Potatoes: Peel and cube potatoes. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15–20 minutes. Drain well.
  • Mash Base: Mash potatoes with butter, cream, salt, and pepper until smooth and fluffy. Add garlic if desired.
  • Add Cheese: Stir in Parmesan and optional mozzarella.
  • Assemble Dish: Transfer mashed potatoes to a greased baking dish. Smooth the top and sprinkle with extra Parmesan.
  • Bake: Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  • Garnish & Serve: Top with parsley or chives. Serve hot.
