Equipment

  • Large skillet or sheet pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Cutting board & knife
  • Tongs or spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (optional, if roasting)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 tbsp balsamic glaze or maple syrup
  • Optional garnish: Parmesan, cranberries, or toasted nuts

Instructions

  • Prep Sprouts: Trim ends and halve Brussels sprouts.
  • Cook Bacon: In skillet, fry bacon until crisp. Remove pieces, reserving fat.
  • Cook Sprouts: Add sprouts to skillet with bacon fat. Sauté until caramelized, 8–10 minutes. Alternatively, roast at 425°F (220°C) for 20–25 minutes with olive oil.
  • Add Flavor: Stir in garlic during final minutes. Toss sprouts with reserved bacon pieces.
  • Finish: Drizzle with balsamic glaze or maple syrup if desired. Garnish with Parmesan, cranberries, or nuts.
  • Serve Hot: Transfer to serving dish and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Roast at high heat for crispy edges.
  •  Don’t overcrowd pan—sprouts need space to caramelize.
  •  Taste before salting; bacon adds plenty of salt.
  •  Refresh leftovers with balsamic drizzle before serving.
  •  Double the recipe for gatherings—it disappears fast!
