Add onions to the pan and saute until softened (4-5 minutes). Add the minced garlic and spices: cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt and pepper. Cook another 30 seconds, stirring constantly. Transfer to a 6 qt slow cooker.
Add remaining ingredients to slow cooker: washed and drained beans, diced tomatoes with their juice, diced tomatoes and green peppers with juice and tomato sauce. Stir and cook over high heat for 3-4 hours or on low heat for 6-8 hours. Season as desired and serve warm.
