  • 1 and 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 cup whole milk, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until well combined.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is well mixed. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
  7. Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully remove the cakes from the pans and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once the cakes are cooled, you can frost them with your favorite frosting or enjoy them plain!

This moist chocolate cake is perfect for any occasion and is sure to satisfy your chocolate cravings! Enjoy!
