Yogurt Marinated Chicken Recipe
Yogurt marinated chicken is incredibly tender and flavorful, thanks to the natural acidity in yogurt, which helps break down the proteins in the meat. This recipe is perfect for grilling, baking, or pan-searing!
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 1 cup plain yogurt (Greek or regular)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (or regular paprika)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- Fresh herbs for garnish (such as cilantro or parsley)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Marinade:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Marinate the Chicken:
- Place the chicken breasts in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the yogurt marinade over the chicken, making sure it’s well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to 8 hours (overnight for the best flavor).
- Cook the Chicken:
- Grilling: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade, letting any excess drip off. Grill the chicken for about 6-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Baking: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the marinated chicken on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until cooked through.
- Pan-searing: Heat a bit of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for about 6-7 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve:
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with fresh herbs sprinkled on top and your choice of sides, like rice, salad, or roasted vegetables.
Tips:
- Marinade Variations: Feel free to add spices or herbs that you love, such as thyme, oregano, or dill.
- Serving Suggestions: This yogurt marinated chicken works well in wraps, salads, or as a protein source in grain bowls.
Enjoy your flavorful and tender yogurt marinated chicken!
