- 4 toasted hamburger buns, as desired
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
- ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 15 onces can of tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 pound lean beef, 85%-90% lean
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 small green pepper, pitted and cut into small cubes
- 1 small onion finely chopped
Finely chop the onion. Nefer and cut green pepper into small cubes.
In a bowl, combine Worcestershire sauce, mustard, water, brown sugar, and tomato sauce.
Place a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium/high heat. Add olive oil and minced meat. Fry the beef for about 5 minutes, until fully cooked through and longer, breaking it up with a spoon. Season with salt and pepper, add diced pepper and onion. Cook for another 5 minutes, until vegetables are softened and beef is brown.
Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, stirring constantly. Add the sauce and let it come to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve on toast for Sloppy Joe's sandwiches.
