- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 bunch chopped cabbage
- 12 oncees refrigerated cheese tortellini
- 6 ounces tomato sauce
- 6 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon salt, adjust to taste
- 1 medium size onion, cut into cubes
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 1 pound light Italian sausage
Heat a heavy, deep pot over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook until it turns light brown.
Add the chopped onion and cook for 5 minutes until softened. Add the crushed garlic and season with 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste.
Add chicken broth and tomato sauce. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Add the tortellini and simmer for 5 minutes. You may need to adjust the cooking time depending on the size of the tortellini.
Add chopped turnip and heavy cream. Simmer and cook for another 2-3 minutes or until the turnip is tender. Turn up the heat and serve.
