“Sizzling Beef” Steak Fried Rice Recipe

Sizzling Beef Steak Fried Rice is a flavorful and satisfying dish that combines tender strips of beef steak with savory fried rice, vegetables, and seasonings. The sizzling effect adds extra excitement, making it a fun and delicious meal. Here’s a simple and tasty recipe to make this dish at home:

Ingredients:

For the Sizzling Beef:

  • 1 lb (450g) beef steak (flank steak, sirloin, or ribeye), thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Fried Rice:

  • 4 cups cooked rice (preferably cold, day-old rice works best)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup carrot, diced
  • 1/2 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper (or black pepper)
  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Optional: chili flakes or sriracha sauce for some heat (optional)

Instructions:

1. Marinate the Beef:

  • In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Stir until well mixed.
  • Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and mix well, ensuring the beef is coated evenly. Let it marinate for at least 15-20 minutes (or up to 1 hour for more flavor).

2. Prepare the Fried Rice:

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  • Add the minced garlic, diced carrots, and peas. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  • Push the vegetables to one side of the pan and add the beaten eggs to the other side. Scramble the eggs and cook until fully set, then mix them with the vegetables.
  • Add the cold, cooked rice to the pan, breaking up any clumps. Stir everything together until the rice is well combined with the vegetables and eggs.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon of white pepper. Stir well to season the rice. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Set the fried rice aside while you cook the beef.

3. Cook the Sizzling Beef:

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated beef in a single layer. Let it sear for 1-2 minutes without stirring to get a nice brown crust. Then, stir-fry the beef for another 2-3 minutes until it’s cooked through and browned. Make sure not to overcook it, as the beef will become tough. Remove from the pan and set aside.

4. Combine:

  • Add the cooked beef back to the fried rice and mix to combine everything.
  • If you want a more “sizzling” effect, you can serve the beef separately in a hot sizzle plate or skillet (a small, pre-heated cast iron skillet works best). When ready to serve, place the sizzling beef on top of the rice, and it will make a sizzling sound when it hits the hot surface.

5. Serve:

  • Garnish with sliced green onions and optional chili flakes or a drizzle of sriracha for extra heat.
  • Serve the sizzling beef steak fried rice hot and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use day-old rice: Fresh rice tends to be too sticky for fried rice. If you don’t have day-old rice, spread the freshly cooked rice on a baking sheet to cool and dry it out before using it.
  • Beef options: You can use any tender cut of beef, such as ribeye, flank, or sirloin. The key is to slice it thinly against the grain to keep it tender.
  • Customization: Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, or baby corn for extra crunch and flavor.

This Sizzling Beef Steak Fried Rice is a great way to enjoy a flavorful and exciting stir-fry, and it’s perfect for a hearty meal that’s both satisfying and fun to eat! Enjoy!
