Salmon with Garlic Cream Sauce Recipe

Salmon with Garlic Cream Sauce

This Salmon with Garlic Cream Sauce is a decadent yet simple dish, featuring perfectly seared salmon filets topped with a rich, creamy garlic sauce. It’s a perfect meal for a special occasion or even a cozy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets (skin-on or skinless, about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or butter)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or dry white wine)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional, for color and flavor)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped for garnish
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions:

1. Season and Sear the Salmon:

  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika (if using).
  • Heat olive oil (or butter) in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the salmon fillets skin side up (if using skin-on) and sear for 4-5 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  • Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside.

2. Sauté the Garlic:

  • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add more oil or butter if needed. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, just until fragrant.

3. Make the Cream Sauce:

  • Pour in the chicken broth (or white wine) to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Let the broth simmer and reduce for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and Dijon mustard. Let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  • Add the lemon juice and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Return the Salmon:

  • Return the salmon fillets to the skillet, spooning some of the garlic cream sauce over the top. Let the salmon cook in the sauce for another 1-2 minutes to warm through.

5. Garnish and Serve:

  • Garnish with fresh parsley or basil, and serve with lemon wedges for an extra burst of citrus.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, pasta, or a light salad.

Tips:

  • For a thicker sauce, let the cream sauce simmer a little longer until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • Add spinach or mushrooms to the sauce for extra flavor and texture.
  • For extra crispy salmon skin, press the fillets down with a spatula when you first place them in the pan and cook undisturbed for the first few minutes.

Enjoy this rich and creamy Salmon with Garlic Cream Sauce for a meal that’s as flavorful as it is elegant!
