Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

For the Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, bread crumbs, milk, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, dried thyme, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined but do not overmix, as this can make the meatloaf tough.
  3. Shape the Meatloaf: Transfer the mixture to a baking dish or a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
  4. Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Spread half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour. After 30 minutes of baking, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the remaining glaze over the top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  6. Rest and Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes and green beans.

Enjoy your classic meatloaf!
