Matcha Mug Cake
A Matcha Mug Cake is a quick and easy dessert that brings together the earthy flavor of matcha green tea in a light, fluffy cake. This recipe is perfect for when you’re craving a sweet treat but don’t want to bake a full cake!
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon matcha powder (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or your preferred sweetener)
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 3 tablespoons milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter or oil (coconut or vegetable)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Powdered sugar or whipped cream for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Mug:
- Use a microwave-safe mug (12 oz or larger to prevent overflow).
- Lightly grease the inside of the mug with a bit of oil or butter to avoid sticking.
- Mix the Dry Ingredients:
- In the mug, whisk together the flour, matcha powder, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- Add the Wet Ingredients:
- Pour in the milk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla extract. Stir until all the ingredients are mixed into a smooth batter with no lumps.
- Microwave:
- Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high for 1 minute to 1 minute and 30 seconds. Check after 1 minute; if it’s still undercooked, add additional time in 10-second intervals.
- The cake should rise and be set but still moist inside.
- Cool and Garnish:
- Let the mug cake cool for a minute before eating.
- Optional: Dust with powdered sugar or serve with whipped cream for extra sweetness.
