Lemon Tiramisu Recipe

Lemon Tiramisu is a refreshing twist on the classic Italian dessert. It typically includes layers of ladyfinger biscuits soaked in lemon syrup or limoncello, and a creamy filling made with mascarpone cheese, lemon zest, and sometimes lemon curd or lemon juice for extra citrus flavor. It’s often garnished with whipped cream, lemon zest, or fresh berries. It offers a tangy, zesty variation of the traditional tiramisu, perfect for those who enjoy lemony desserts.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup limoncello (optional)
  • Ladyfinger biscuits (savoiardi)
  • Lemon syrup (made with equal parts sugar and water, simmered until sugar dissolves, cooled, and mixed with lemon juice)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cream Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
    • In another bowl, whisk together the mascarpone cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and lemon juice until smooth.
    • Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
  2. Assemble the Tiramisu:
    • Dip each ladyfinger biscuit into the lemon syrup briefly (don’t soak too long, or they’ll become too soggy).
    • Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish or individual glasses.
    • Spread a layer of the cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
    • Repeat layers, ending with a layer of the cream mixture on top.
  3. Chill and Serve:
    • Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
    • Before serving, dust with additional lemon zest or decorate with fresh berries if desired.
  4. Optional:
    • If using limoncello, you can add it to the lemon syrup for an extra kick of lemon flavor and a touch of liqueur.

This Lemon Tiramisu is a delightful dessert with a bright, citrusy flavor that’s perfect for summer or any time you crave a refreshing twist on the classic Italian treat. Enjoy!
