Ingredients:

For the Dough (or use store-bought pizza dough):

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Toppings:

  • ¾ cup pizza sauce (or crushed San Marzano tomatoes seasoned with salt & olive oil)

  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced or torn

  • Fresh basil leaves

  • Olive oil, for drizzling

  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Make the Dough:

    • In a bowl, combine yeast, warm water, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

    • Stir in flour, salt, and olive oil. Knead until smooth (about 8-10 minutes).

    • Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  2. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) with a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.

  3. Assemble the Pizza:

    • Roll or stretch the dough into a 12-inch circle on parchment paper.

    • Spread sauce evenly over the base.

    • Arrange mozzarella slices on top.

    • Season lightly with salt and drizzle with olive oil.

  4. Bake:

    • Transfer the pizza (with parchment) to the hot pizza stone or baking sheet.

    • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.

  5. Garnish & Serve:

    • Remove from oven and top with fresh basil leaves.

    • Slice and serve hot.

Tips:

  • Brush the crust with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder for extra flavor.

  • For a crispier crust, pre-bake the base for 3-4 minutes before adding toppings.

  • Want it spicy? Add a sprinkle of red chili flakes or drizzle with chili oil.
