Guacamole
Guacamole is a classic Mexican dip made from ripe avocados, offering a creamy texture and bright, fresh flavors. It’s perfect for pairing with chips, tacos, or as a topping for your favorite dishes.
Ingredients:
- 3 ripe avocados
- 1 small red onion, finely diced
- 1-2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
- 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped (optional, for heat)
- 1-2 Roma tomatoes, diced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 lime, juiced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Avocados:
- Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a large bowl.
- Mash the Avocados:
- Using a fork or potato masher, mash the avocados to your desired consistency. Leave it chunky for a rustic guacamole or mash it smoother if you prefer.
- Add the Mix-ins:
- Stir in the diced onion, garlic, jalapeño (if using), tomatoes, cilantro, and lime juice. Mix until well combined.
- Season:
- Add salt, pepper, and cumin (if using) to taste. Adjust the lime juice and seasoning as needed for balance.
- Serve:
- Transfer to a serving bowl, and enjoy immediately with tortilla chips, or use it as a topping for tacos, nachos, or salads.
Tips:
- Keep it Fresh: To prevent browning, press a piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface of the guacamole before refrigerating. Lime juice also helps slow down the oxidation.
- Customizable: Adjust the ingredients to your liking. Add more lime for acidity, more jalapeño for heat, or even a dash of hot sauce for extra kick.
Enjoy your homemade guacamole with your favorite Mexican dishes or as a snack with chips!
