This decadent Frosted Fudge Cake is a chocolate lover’s dream! Rich and moist, with a creamy fudge frosting, it’s perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or any day you want to indulge.
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
For the Frosting:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Cake:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Combine Wet Ingredients:
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well combined.
4. Add Boiling Water:
- Carefully stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin). Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
5. Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on a wire rack.
6. Prepare the Frosting:
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar, alternating with the milk, beating to a smooth, spreadable consistency. Stir in the vanilla extract.
7. Assemble the Cake:
- Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
8. Serve:
- Slice and enjoy your delicious Frosted Fudge Cake!
Tips:
- Decorate: Consider garnishing with chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or fresh berries for an extra touch.
- Storing: Keep the cake covered at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
- Make It Richer: For a more intense chocolate flavor, try adding a teaspoon of espresso powder to the cake batter.
Enjoy this rich, fudgy delight with a glass of cold milk or your favorite hot beverage!
