Fire Crackers (Spicy Seasoned Crackers)

Fire Crackers (Spicy Seasoned Crackers) Recipe

Fire Crackers are a deliciously spicy snack that’s perfect for game days, parties, or just as a flavorful munching option. These seasoned crackers are easy to make and can be customized with your favorite spices. They pack a punch and are sure to be a hit!

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of saltine crackers (about 4 sleeves)
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix (or a similar seasoning blend)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional, for smokiness)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the marinade:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, ranch seasoning mix, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and paprika until well combined.

2. Add the crackers:

  • Carefully add the saltine crackers to the bowl. Gently toss the crackers in the oil mixture until they are evenly coated. Be gentle to avoid breaking them.

3. Marinate:

  • Transfer the coated crackers to a large zip-top bag or a container with a lid. If using a zip-top bag, seal it tightly and shake the bag to ensure all crackers are well coated. Let the crackers marinate at room temperature for 24 hours, flipping the bag or shaking the container occasionally to redistribute the seasoning.

4. Preheat the oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).

5. Bake:

  • Spread the marinated crackers in a single layer on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to ensure they bake evenly and don’t burn.

6. Cool:

  • Remove the crackers from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. They will crisp up as they cool.

7. Store:

  • Once cool, store the Fire Crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.

Tips:

  • Spice Level: Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes and cayenne pepper based on your desired spice level.
  • Flavor Variations: Feel free to experiment with different seasoning blends, such as Italian seasoning, taco seasoning, or even a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for a cheesy flavor.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve these crackers as a snack on their own, or alongside dips like hummus, guacamole, or salsa.

Enjoy these Fire Crackers as a zesty and satisfying snack that brings the heat!
