Easy Broccoli Quiche Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade if you prefer)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup broccoli florets, chopped into small pieces
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite cheese)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk (or half-and-half for a richer quiche)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Pie Crust: Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Trim any excess crust and crimp the edges. You can pre-bake the crust for 5-7 minutes to prevent it from getting soggy, but it’s optional.
- Cook the Vegetables: In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the chopped broccoli florets and cook for another 3-4 minutes, until slightly tender. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Assemble the Quiche: Spread the cooked onions and broccoli evenly over the bottom of the pie crust. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the vegetables.
- Prepare the Custard: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Pour the Custard: Carefully pour the egg mixture over the vegetables and cheese in the pie crust. Use a fork to gently distribute the ingredients if needed.
- Bake the Quiche: Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown. You can check for doneness by inserting a knife into the center; if it comes out clean, the quiche is done.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the quiche to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
