Crispy Honey Chicken is a delicious dish featuring tender chicken pieces coated in a crispy batter and tossed in a sweet and savory honey sauce. It’s a perfect blend of crunchy texture and rich flavors, making it a crowd favorite.

Ingredients:

For the Chicken:

  • 1 lb (450g) chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup (65g) cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) water (adjust as needed for batter consistency)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Honey Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup (85g) honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or white vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (for thickening)
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • In a bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
    • Gradually add water to form a batter (it should be thick enough to coat the chicken evenly).
    • Toss the chicken pieces in the batter, ensuring each piece is well coated.
  2. Fry the Chicken:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
    • Fry the chicken pieces in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy (about 5-7 minutes per batch).
    • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. Make the Honey Sauce:
    • In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil (if using), garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer.
    • Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Toss the Chicken:
    • Once the chicken is fried, toss the crispy chicken pieces in the honey sauce until well coated.
  5. Serve:
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, and serve over steamed rice or noodles.

Enjoy!

This Crispy Honey Chicken is the perfect combination of sweetness and crunch, with a light, sticky honey glaze that will have everyone asking for seconds.
