Creamy Greek Feta Dip Recipe

Creamy Greek Feta Dip (Tirokafteri)

This Creamy Greek Feta Dip, also known as Tirokafteri, is a deliciously tangy, creamy, and slightly spicy dip made with feta cheese, yogurt, and a touch of olive oil. It’s perfect for dipping veggies, pita bread, or spreading on sandwiches.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (225g) feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 roasted red pepper, chopped (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1-2 teaspoons red pepper flakes (adjust to taste for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh herbs, for garnish (optional: parsley, dill, or mint)
  • Pita bread or veggies, for serving

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ingredients:

  • Crumble the feta cheese into small pieces to make blending easier.
  • Mince the garlic and chop the roasted red pepper if using.

2. Blend the Dip:

  • In a food processor or blender, add the feta, Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, roasted red pepper (if using), and red pepper flakes.
  • Blend until smooth and creamy. If the dip is too thick, you can add a little more olive oil or a splash of water to reach your desired consistency.

3. Season:

  • Stir in the oregano and black pepper. Taste the dip and adjust the seasoning as needed, adding more red pepper flakes for extra heat if desired.

4. Serve:

  • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Drizzle with a bit of olive oil and sprinkle fresh herbs on top for garnish.
  • Serve with pita bread, crackers, or fresh veggies like cucumber slices, carrots, or bell peppers.

Tips:

  • Spice Level: Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your heat preference. For a milder dip, use less, or omit entirely.
  • Extra Flavor: For added depth, try mixing in a few sun-dried tomatoes or olives.
  • Serving Idea: This dip also works great as a spread for wraps or sandwiches.

This Creamy Greek Feta Dip is rich, tangy, and full of Mediterranean flavor. It’s quick to prepare and a crowd-pleaser for any gathering!
