Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Cheddar Bay Biscuits are a popular menu item from the restaurant chain Red Lobster. They are fluffy, savory biscuits flavored with cheddar cheese, garlic, and herbs. These biscuits are known for their delicious taste and are often served warm with butter. Many people enjoy replicating them at home because they’re so tasty!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Garlic Butter Topping:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
  3. Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs with pea-sized pieces of butter.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  5. Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix; the dough will be sticky.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, making about 10-12 biscuits.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. While the biscuits are baking, prepare the garlic butter topping. In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, parsley flakes, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt.
  9. Remove the biscuits from the oven and immediately brush the tops with the garlic butter mixture.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy your homemade Cheddar Bay Biscuits!

These biscuits are best served fresh out of the oven. They’re perfect alongside seafood dishes or just as a delightful snack on their own. Enjoy!
