Antipasto Squares Recipe

Antipasto Squares are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer inspired by the flavors of an Italian antipasto platter. They typically consist of layers of crescent roll dough or puff pastry, filled with a variety of Italian meats (such as salami, pepperoni, and ham), cheeses (like provolone and mozzarella), and other antipasto ingredients like roasted red peppers, olives, and sometimes artichoke hearts. The layered creation is then baked until golden brown and cut into squares for serving. Here’s a basic recipe:

Antipasto Squares Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough or puff pastry sheets
  • 1/4 pound sliced salami
  • 1/4 pound sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 pound sliced ham
  • 1/4 pound sliced provolone cheese
  • 1/4 pound sliced mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup roasted red peppers, drained and sliced
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 cup sliced green olives
  • 1/2 cup marinated artichoke hearts, drained and chopped (optional)
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Dough: Roll out one can of crescent roll dough or one sheet of puff pastry and press it into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, making sure to cover the entire bottom.
  3. Layer the Ingredients: Layer the salami, pepperoni, ham, provolone cheese, and mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough. Add the roasted red peppers, black olives, green olives, and artichoke hearts (if using) on top.
  4. Top with More Dough: Roll out the second can of crescent roll dough or the other sheet of puff pastry and place it over the top, sealing the edges.
  5. Egg Mixture: In a small bowl, mix the beaten eggs with the Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture evenly over the top layer of dough.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the dough is cooked through.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the antipasto squares to cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting them into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Antipasto Squares are great for parties, picnics, or as a tasty snack. Enjoy!
