Hamburger Potato Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of celery soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4-5 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Mix the Soups and Milk: In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, cream of celery soup, and milk. Stir until well blended.
  4. Layer the Ingredients: In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spread half of the sliced potatoes evenly over the bottom. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Spread half of the ground beef mixture over the potatoes. Pour half of the soup mixture over the beef. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  5. Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. After 1 hour, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
