
Quick & Easy Crispy Mashed Potato Fries – Golden, Crunchy & Delicious
Equipment
- Baking sheet or air fryer basket
- Parchment paper or silicone mat
- Mixing bowl and spatula
- Deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot (optional)
- Slotted spoon or tongs (for deep frying)
Ingredients
- 2 cups mashed potatoes (leftover or freshly made)
- 2–3 tbsp cornstarch or all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp oil for coating (or more for deep frying)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional seasonings: garlic powder, smoked paprika, fresh herbs
- Optional garnish: parmesan, chives, or dipping sauces
Instructions
- Dry mashed potatoes if needed.
- Shape into sticks, ¼–½ inch thick.
- Lightly coat fries in cornstarch or flour.
- Cook using one of the methods:Oven: 425°F (220°C), 20–25 min, flip halfway.Air fryer: 400°F (200°C), 15–18 min, shake basket halfway.Deep fry: 350°F (175°C), 3–4 min, drain on paper towels.
- Season immediately.
- Serve warm with favorite dips.
Notes
- Leftover mashed potatoes make fries crispier.
- For extra crunch, double-coat fries in cornstarch.
- Sweet potato variant works well with cinnamon or paprika.
- Avoid overcrowding baking sheet/air fryer to ensure crispiness.
