Tiramisu Brownies
Tiramisu Brownies are a decadent twist on the classic Italian dessert. They feature a thick layer of fudgy chocolate brownie topped with a creamy mascarpone and espresso-spiked layer — finished with a dusting of cocoa powder. It’s bold, luscious, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
Ingredients:
For the Brownie Base:
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
8 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped
¾ cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup all-purpose flour
¼ tsp salt
For the Tiramisu Layer:
8 oz mascarpone cheese, softened
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp espresso or strong brewed coffee (cooled)
1 cup heavy whipping cream
Topping:
Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
Optional: chocolate shavings or ladyfinger crumbs
Instructions:
1. Make the Brownies:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8-inch square pan.
Melt butter and chocolate together (microwave or stovetop), stir until smooth.
Whisk in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Fold in flour and salt. Pour batter into the pan.
Bake 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Let cool completely.
2. Make the Tiramisu Cream Layer:
In a bowl, beat mascarpone, powdered sugar, vanilla, and espresso until smooth.
In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream to stiff peaks.
Gently fold whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fluffy and combined.
3. Assemble:
Spread tiramisu cream evenly over cooled brownies.
Dust generously with cocoa powder and chill for at least 2 hours to set.
Tips & Variations:
For extra coffee flavor, brush the brownie layer with espresso before topping.
Swap mascarpone with cream cheese if unavailable (texture will be slightly tangier).
For adults: add 1 tsp coffee liqueur (like Kahlúa) to the cream.
