Broccoli Cheese Balls

These crispy golden bites are packed with tender broccoli, gooey melted cheese, and savory seasonings. Perfect as a party appetizer, kid-friendly snack, or veggie-packed treat, Broccoli Cheese Balls are irresistibly crunchy on the outside and melty on the inside!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups broccoli florets (lightly steamed and finely chopped)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheeses)

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (plus more for coating)

  • 1 egg

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for a kick

  • Oil for frying (or bake/air-fry option)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the broccoli:

    • Lightly steam or microwave broccoli until just tender.

    • Finely chop or pulse in a food processor until crumbly.

  2. Mix the filling:

    • In a bowl, combine chopped broccoli, cheeses, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, and seasonings.

    • Mix until well combined and holds together when pressed.

  3. Shape the balls:

    • Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll into balls.

    • Chill in the fridge for 20–30 minutes to firm up.

  4. Coat and cook:

    • Roll chilled balls in additional breadcrumbs for a crispy exterior.

    • To fry: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry until golden (about 2–3 minutes per side).

    • To bake: Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway.

    • To air-fry: Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway through.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve with ranch dressing, marinara sauce, or a spicy aioli.

  • Great for lunchboxes, party trays, or meal prep.
