This Creamy White Cheddar Mac and Cheese is a rich, velvety twist on the classic. Made with sharp white cheddar and a hint of garlic, this stovetop mac and cheese comes together quickly and delivers restaurant-style creaminess in every bite.

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz elbow macaroni or pasta of choice

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups whole milk (warm)

  • 1 cup heavy cream (optional for extra creaminess)

  • 2 ½ cups sharp white cheddar cheese, shredded

  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated (optional for extra depth)

  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook Pasta:

    • Cook macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente.

    • Drain and set aside.

  2. Make Cheese Sauce:

    • In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

    • Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.

    • Slowly pour in warm milk (and cream if using), whisking constantly until smooth.

    • Cook for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  3. Add Cheese:

    • Lower heat to low.

    • Stir in shredded white cheddar, Parmesan (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

    • Stir until smooth and melty.

  4. Combine:

    • Add cooked pasta to the sauce and stir to coat evenly.

  5. Serve:

    • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
