ONE Pan Pizza Pasta Skillet Mix Preparation

Here’s a quick and easy recipe for a One-Pan Pizza Pasta Skillet that’s loaded with pizza flavors in a pasta dish, all made in one pan!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or sausage (or a combination of both)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes (with juices)
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked pasta (penne or rotini work well)
  • 2 1/2 cups water or broth
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (optional)
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced (optional)
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Meat:
    • Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet (preferably one with a lid).
    • Add the ground beef or sausage and cook, breaking it up into small pieces, until browned and fully cooked (about 5-7 minutes).
    • If there’s excess fat, drain it off.
  2. Add Veggies and Seasoning:
    • Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until softened.
    • Stir in the Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes, then cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Prepare the Sauce:
    • Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juices) and tomato paste. Mix well to combine.
    • Add the uncooked pasta and 2 1/2 cups of water or broth. Bring to a simmer, then cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low.
    • Let it cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and the sauce has thickened.
  4. Add Cheese and Toppings:
    • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the pasta mixture.
    • Add the pepperoni and black olives (if using). Cover the skillet again and let the cheese melt for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, garnish with fresh basil or parsley.
    • Serve hot and enjoy your pizza-inspired pasta!

This one-pan dish is perfect for busy nights, with all the flavors of a pizza in a quick pasta skillet.
