Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Skewers

These Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Skewers are a flavorful, easy-to-make dish perfect for grilling or roasting. The combination of spicy Cajun seasoning, succulent shrimp, and savory sausage brings a burst of flavor to your plate. Serve with a side of rice, veggies, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, cut into 1/2-inch slices (Andouille or Kielbasa works great)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions:

1. Prepare the skewers:

  • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning while grilling.

2. Season the shrimp:

  • In a large bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and lemon juice. Make sure the shrimp are evenly coated in the seasoning.

3. Assemble the skewers:

  • Thread the shrimp and sliced sausage onto the skewers, alternating between the two.

4. Grill the skewers:

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  • Grill the skewers for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque and the sausage gets a slight char. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp.

Alternative oven method: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and place the skewers on a baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway through.

5. Serve:

  • Serve the Cajun shrimp and sausage skewers hot with a side of rice, a fresh salad, or grilled vegetables. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice adds a nice finish.

Tips:

  • Spice Level: Adjust the Cajun seasoning based on your spice preference. You can add cayenne pepper for extra heat.
  • Sausage Options: Andouille sausage is traditional for Cajun dishes, but Kielbasa or any smoked sausage works well too.
  • Serving Idea: Serve these skewers with a creamy Cajun sauce or remoulade for dipping.

These Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Skewers are packed with bold flavors and are perfect for your next barbecue, quick dinner, or party appetizer!
