Creamy Chicken Marsala Recipe

Creamy Chicken Marsala Recipe

Chicken Marsala is a classic Italian-American dish featuring tender chicken breasts in a rich, creamy Marsala wine sauce. This version adds a luxurious touch of cream for a richer texture.

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 8 oz cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3/4 cup Marsala wine
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Chicken:

  • Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness (about 1/2 inch).
  • Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper.
  • Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off the excess.

2. Cook the Chicken:

  • Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the chicken breasts and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

3. Sauté the Mushrooms and Garlic:

  • In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened and browned.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

4. Make the Marsala Sauce:

  • Pour the Marsala wine into the skillet to deglaze, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  • Let the wine simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  • Add the chicken broth and continue simmering for another 2 minutes.

5. Add the Cream:

  • Stir in the heavy cream and let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.

6. Combine and Serve:

  • Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning some sauce over the top.
  • Simmer the chicken in the sauce for another 3-4 minutes to ensure it’s fully warmed and coated.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Serving Suggestions: Creamy Chicken Marsala pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice. You can also serve it alongside roasted vegetables or a simple green salad.
  • Substitute for Marsala Wine: If you can’t find Marsala, you can substitute with a mix of dry sherry and sweet white wine in a 1:1 ratio.

This Creamy Chicken Marsala is perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a special occasion! Enjoy its deliciously rich and savory flavors.
