Taco Pizza Recipe

Taco Pizza is a delicious fusion dish that combines the flavors of tacos with the classic pizza format. It typically features a pizza crust topped with taco ingredients, such as seasoned ground beef or turkey, salsa, cheese, and various fresh toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, olives, and sour cream.

Ingredients:

For the Pizza Dough:

  • 1 (1 lb) pre-made pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing)

For the Taco Toppings:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning mix
  • 1 cup salsa (mild, medium, or hot, based on preference)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (for serving)
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro (for garnish, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Prepare the Pizza Dough:
    • If using store-bought dough, follow the package instructions for prepping the dough. If making homemade dough, roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness and shape.
    • Grease a pizza pan or baking sheet with olive oil and transfer the dough to the pan.
  3. Cook the Ground Beef:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat.
    • Stir in the taco seasoning and 1/4 cup of salsa. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until well combined and heated through.
  4. Assemble the Pizza:
    • Spread the remaining salsa evenly over the pizza dough as the base.
    • Sprinkle the cooked ground beef mixture over the salsa.
    • Add shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  5. Bake the Pizza:
    • Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Add Fresh Toppings:
    • Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly.
    • Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, black olives (if using), and jalapeños (if using).
  7. Serve:
    • Slice the pizza and serve with sour cream on the side. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.

Enjoy!

This Taco Pizza is a fun twist on traditional pizza, packed with flavor and perfect for a family dinner or a party! Feel free to customize the toppings to your liking!
